Final Schools, one of İzmir’s leading educational institutions, offered its students an unforgettable cultural experience. Held with the participation of Edusama experts, the “Japanese Culture Seminar and Calligraphy Workshop” opened the doors to the Land of the Rising Sun for students, both intellectually and through hands-on practice.

Learning About the Culture and Experiencing It Firsthand

The event was planned in two parts. In the first part, an Edusama representative gave a comprehensive presentation on Japan’s thousands of years of history, its traditions, its role at the forefront of modern technology, and its unique social structure. Topics ranging from anime and manga to the traditional tea ceremony, and from the education system to work discipline, captured the students’ interest.

The most eagerly awaited and popular part of the seminar was the Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) Workshop.

Guided by Edusama instructors, students learned the finer points of ‘Shodo’ using a traditional Japanese brush (fude) and ink (sumi). Trying their hand at writing their own names or meaningful ‘Kanji’ (Japanese characters) such as “peace” and “love,” the students enjoyed the excitement of experiencing firsthand this time-honored art, in which concentration and aesthetics come together.
