About the School

ISI Takadanobaba Academic Pathway Campus is located in Takadanobaba, one of Tokyo’s leading student areas, and offers academically focused Japanese education for students with further education goals in Japan, such as university, graduate school or vocational school (senmon gakko). Operating as part of ISI Japanese Language School, the campus aims to help students not only improve their Japanese proficiency but also gain the academic skills they need to prepare for their next stage of education in Japan.

The curriculum is designed to help students develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in a balanced way while preparing them to use academic Japanese. Students can take elective classes according to their level and goals; these include JLPT preparation, EJU Japanese preparation, preparation for graduate school and conversation-focused classes. Which electives are offered may vary depending on students’ levels, preferences and the conditions of each term.

The campus also provides individual counseling to support students as they move on to further education. Students can receive support from teachers and counselors on topics such as choosing a university, graduate program or vocational school (senmon gakko), planning their studies and preparing applications. Drawing on ISI’s experience in helping students progress to educational institutions in Japan, students are supported in creating a roadmap that suits their level and goals.

Takadanobaba is one of Tokyo’s best-known student areas, home to many universities, vocational schools (senmon gakko) and preparatory schools, most notably Waseda University. The area has bookstores, study spaces, cafés, restaurants and many other facilities students may need in their daily lives. As the campus is about a 3-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station, it is also very easy to reach Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shibuya and other central areas of Tokyo.

ISI Takadanobaba Academic Pathway Campus is designed especially for students who plan to continue their education in Japan and want to combine their Japanese studies with academic preparation. At the same time, there are also different study options for students who want to develop their general Japanese skills comprehensively or study short-term.
