About the School
ICA International Conversation Academy - Fuji-san Campus is a language school located in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, near Mount Fuji, offering Japanese language education to international students who plan to continue their studies in Japan. The school aims for students not only to acquire basic Japanese knowledge but also to be able to use the language actively and independently in their future studies and in their daily lives in Japan.
In the classes, speaking, listening, reading and writing are treated not as separate subjects but as skills used together in real life. From the beginner levels onward, pair and group work, tasks based on daily life and communication activities are used; as levels progress, research, discussions, presentations and tasks that require students to express their own thoughts in Japanese become more prominent.
Fuji-san Campus is structured especially for students considering university, vocational school or other further education options in Japan. At the advanced levels, students work on academic skills they may need in their future studies, such as summarizing, writing reports, gathering information from sources, preparing presentations and expressing their thoughts in a more organized way. The school offers a 2-year further education program starting in April and a 1-year-6-month further education program starting in October.
The school does not limit Japanese learning to classroom instruction. Throughout the year, a variety of activities are held, including exchange events with Japanese high school students, traditional rice planting, sports events, school trips, participation in local events, New Year calligraphy and activities introducing Japan’s seasonal culture. These activities give students opportunities to communicate with different people and to use the Japanese they have learned outside the classroom as well.
Fuji City offers a calmer environment than the big metropolitan areas, where you can see Mount Fuji, one of Japan’s best-known natural symbols, as part of everyday life. The Iwamoto area, where the school is located, is a residential area that combines nature with the conveniences of daily life. Nearby Iwamotoyama Park is known for its views of Mount Fuji and its plum and cherry blossoms, and the natural and cultural sites around Mount Fuji are also easily accessible. For students who want to focus on their studies in a quieter city and live close to Japan’s nature, Fuji-san Campus offers a different living experience from the campuses in Tokyo or Osaka.
